Ableton Releases Live 10.1 Update
Ableton Live 10.1 gives you new tools and features. Notable improvements include:
- User wavetables: You can now import wavetables or samples into Wavetable’s oscillator section.
- Channel EQ: A new EQ with adaptable curves and gain ranges suitable for a variety of audio material.
- Delay: Combines Simple Delay and Ping Pong Delay. It also adds feature and workflow upgrades.
- New automation features: Choose from a new palette of automation shapes. Stretch and skew automation or enter precise values with your keyboard.
- Improvements to zooming and scrolling: Live 10.1 makes switching between detailed views and big-picture editing faster with streamlined keyboard shortcuts and pinch zooming.
- Freeze tracks: You can now Freeze tracks with sidechain routing.
- Exporting: Export single tracks and groups with return and master effects applied.
- VST3 support: Finally, Live supports VST3 plugins!
This update is free for all owners of Live 10. If you have auto-update enabled, Live will automatically update the next time you open it.
Korg Releases Volca Nubass Vacuum Tube Synthesizer
The volca nubass combines classic sound with a modern synthesizer design. It’s also the first analog synth equipped with a Nutube new-generation vacuum tube in its oscillator. Vacuum tube plus analog means the sound is warm, thick, and rich.
The volca nubass also features a step sequencer, transistor ladder filters, an analog overdrive circuit, and more. Moreover, it includes bundled software from Korg, iZotope, Propellerhead, and Skoove.
Special Waves Introduces the Mine S
Mine S is a new modular MIDI controller system by Special Waves. They describe it as “The World’s Most Versatile Modular Midi Controller.”
The modular controller has a swap-in/swap-out design. You can create a customized controller for music, lighting, video editing, and more.
Waves Releases their Submarine Plugin
Submarine is a two-octave subharmonic generator plugin by Waves. The company says Submarine “adds bigger, deeper sub bass to your tracks, with unprecedented clarity, and low-end accuracy.”
Submarine features two sub-generators that add subharmonic frequencies. For example, you can beef up your kicks, bass, and even full mixdowns.
IK Multimedia Debuts UNO Drum
UNO Drum is the newest member of IK Multimedia’s UNO series. This drum synth combines analog sounds with digital flexibility and convenience.
UNO Drum offers a range of analog and digital sounds that characterize iconic analog drum sounds. It also sports three master effects: analog drive, compressor, and a stutter effect. In addition, there is a set of programming and live performance features and controls. They make it easy for musicians, producers, and DJs to add drum grooves to their music.
Elektron Reveals the Digitone Keys Synthesizer
Digitone Keys is an eight-voice polyphonic synthesizer keyboard by Elektron. This high-end performance machine sports a 37-key velocity and pressure sensitive keyboard with aftertouch. It also features customizable controls, assignable knobs, various modulation sources, pitch and modulation wheels, a set of effects, and a ton more.
Gamechanger Audio Introduces Motor Synth
Motor Synth is the first electro-mechanical desktop synthesizer. It uses a system of electromotors as its main sound source. Motor Synth produces sounds by accelerating and decelerating eight electromotors to a precise rpm that corresponds with specific musical notes. It can also create unique industrial motor sounds and soundscapes.
Superlative Debuts the SB-1/Space Bee Synthesizer
The SB-1/Space Bee is a tribute to the classic Roland SH-101 synthesizer. However, it brings modern features and a new design.
The SB-1/Space Bee is one of the thinnest synths out. This new design also features a full-size keyboard with tactile rubber dome switches for a fast and responsive feel. It also includes two sequencers: one for the internal synth and one for external devices. In addition, the SB-1 is the first analog synthesizer to incorporate a rechargeable battery.

Novation’s new Summit two-part 16-voice 61-key polyphonic synthesizer is a beast! Its digital Oxford Oscillators offer subtractive, FM, and wavetable synthesis. Native Instruments Releases Modular Icons
Created in collaboration with the Bob Moog Foundation, MODULAR ICONS put the most coveted synth sounds into your studio. This new virtual instrument uses samples made from some of the most influential modular instruments in electronic music history.
In addition, Native Instruments is donating over 50% of all MODULAR ICONS sales to the Bob Moog Foundation. This non-profit organization inspires creativity through education, historic preservation, and the creation of a Moogseum.
