From packing out stages at Lollapalooza and Lost Lands, to releasing hits with industry heavy weights Marshmello and Bear Grillz, the sky is the limit for Icon Online Alum, Sippy.
We first met Sippy in 2016 when she joined Icon’s Online music production program from Sydney, Australia. Talented, passionate, and driven, she built her career from the ground up by steadily releasing music dripping with her gritty, earth shattering sound design. With consistent gigs, releases on the books, and a new home in the states, Sippy’s momentum seemed unstoppable…
Enter the Covid-19 pandemic.
While most of us spent the lockdown wherever we started it, Sippy was forced to abandon her life in the states and move back to Australia. Panic ensued. She had just started a life in the US, and like many of us, everything was stripped away from her in a matter of days. Instead of retreating and pitying herself, Sippy recognized she had two options: do nothing, or create as much music as possible. She chose the latter.
After a year and a half of Ableton projects, Sippy had an arsenal of new music and was ready to move back to the US; however, the process of acquiring an artist Visa during an international pandemic made the odds slim to none. Obstacle after obstacle, Sippy relentlessly persevered until she finally secured her Visa, and boarded the plane to the states. When we caught up with her last month, her drive was so palpable that the entire Icon team felt it in the room with her. It’s her persistence, resilience, and talent, that make Sippy a name in dance music that will ring for generations to come.
